FAQ

Q. Do i need to change train for the journey if i have a SplitFare Ticket?

A. No. The Journey is exactly the same as you would usually go on with a full price ticket.

Q. Is it legal?

A. Yes. Its within the National Rail Conditions of Carriage, and has been confirmed by the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC). Although staff at stations do not have to advertise them, they cannot refuse to sell split fares if the passenger specifically requests one. There is one rule! The train must call at the stations you've bought tickets for.

Q. Why do you only split tickets twice?

A. We only split fares twice because we want to offer a quick free service. Splitting every leg could be cheaper but the disadvantage is that the rail traveller would have to purchase many tickets. This could lead to mistakes in the purchasing and confusion

Q. Does SplitFare.co.uk sell tickets themselves?

A. No. SplitFare is simply a search tool to help you find lower price train tickets. Tickets can be purchased from thetrainline.com

Q. Do you only offer selected ticket types?

A. No. The Splitfare search tool looks for all ticket types.

Q. What is thetrainline.com?

A. thetrainline.com is the UK's leading independent rail ticket retailer. They offer all ticket types to all national railway stations. To purchase tickets you will need to sign up for an account (if you do not already have one). You can register for an account at .

Q. If the website is free, how do you make money?

A. SplitFare is FREE for all users. We have some tradedoubler links on our results page which are traffic based payment systems. The SplitFare user will not be charged or need to register for anything on the site.
